Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide
CAS: 37221-79-7
VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) is a 28-amino acid neuropeptide with broad immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and pulmonary vasodilatory activity. Studied in MCAS, long COVID neurological symptoms, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and autoimmune conditions. 98.5% HPLC purity.
Specifications
For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.
Mechanism of Action
Agonizes VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokine production (TNF-a, IL-6, IL-12), elevate cAMP, relax pulmonary vascular smooth muscle, and enhance Treg function. Also modulates circadian gene expression.
Research FAQ
What is VIP being researched for in 2024-2025?
Beyond its classical pulmonary and GI roles, VIP is increasingly studied for mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), long COVID neurological inflammation, and as an immunomodulator in autoimmune conditions via VPAC1/VPAC2-mediated Treg enhancement.
